- Material Quality – In a cycle, the most important components are the Tyres, Frames, and Brakes. You have to check the quality of these components, In most cycles, the frame is made up of aluminium while some are made up of carbon steel, both of these materials are pretty good. Always check the build quality of the tyres, and keep an eye on the brakes you must have seen brakes made of plastics so check what they are made up of and also check the quality of wires.
- Battery – An electric cycle can have two types of battery In-built or detachable, both having their pros and cons. With an in-built battery, you don’t have to worry about it being stolen or having an exterior problem because it is fixed inside the frame of a cycle. While a detachable battery, being able to detach can be stoled but you can take it out yourself and use the electric cycle as a normal cycle. Other than this you have to check the power of the battery, in an electric cycle, you can have a battery of around 5-7Ah. The more power a battery has the more its range increases such if you have a battery of 5.2Ah and a battery of 7.2Ah the battery with 7.2Ah will have more range than the battery with 5.2Ah. With this you also have to focus on the warranty of the battery, some have a warranty of 1 year while some have a warranty of 2 years.
- Motor – After Battery, the Motor is the most important component in an Electric Cycle. Most of the Electric Cycles have a 36V/250W BLDC motor (Brushless Direct Current Motor). 36V/250W BLDC motor is known as one of the best motors for Electric Cycles, it’s case is waterproof. You also have to check the power of the motor before buying it. The power of the motor depends on the weight you carry on the Cycle, and the condition of the path (straight, hill). The more weight you have the more powerful motor is needed. The motor can also break, it might affect the speed of the motor if you will put an excessive load on it.
- Warranty – Each component of an Electric Cycle gets a different warranty. Most of the Cycles have a lifetime warranty on the frame, but Tyres have a different warranty, Motors and batteries are the most expensive components in an Electric Cycle, they usually get a warranty of around 1-2 years but the different brands have different warranties. The more warranty you get is better so always check the warranty.
- Brand – With the increasing popularity of electric cycles, many small manufacturers and Chinese companies are getting into the industry. It is very important to carefully choose the brand as their job doesn’t end after selling the cycle. We recommend you go for well-known Indian brands as they have a good service network.
- After Sale Services – As I told you not to go with a Chinese-manufactured product. If the product is manufactured in china then you will not be able to get a proper service if something goes wrong with the product, cause the people are just assembling the product in India rather than manufacturing it in India. So go with a product made in India and there will be fewer problems in the service because they are manufactured here.
- Test Drive – While most of the electric cycles are available online, you must take a test drive if possible.
